Example: Linguistics
Strawman: Language is innate? Well, if you were born in China you would speak Chinese and if you were born in Hungary you would speak Hungarian, so no, environment shapes language. Nurture > Nature.
False cause: (Oral) languages uses the vocal tract. Therefore, the vocal tract evolved for language.
appeal to emotion: I'll temporarily refrain from calling you racist and tell your friends that you are open minded if you agree with me that all languages are equally complex.
slippery slope: If everyone studies English, then people will stop speaking their local languages, and before you know it, everyone will be a monolingual Anglophone ogre.
ad hominem: You're not a real scientist
tu quoque: I'm not a real scientist? Lol no u.
personal incredulity: So, you're telling me, that with just a few dozen or so symbols, you can express a limitless number of expressions? 别逗了 你百鬼 (Who are you kidding, you white devil)
special pleading: Okay, we're not looking for linguistic rules that hold 100% of the time, we're looking for statistical regularities here.
loaded question: You have to answer YES or NO: Spanish is a hegemonic language.
burden of proof: okay, well then prove that language isn't innate 👹
ambiguity: There's no clear line between language and dialect and there are about 6000 languages spoken in the world today.
the gambler's fallacy: For my experiment, participants were randomly assigned to either the control group or the treatment group. But it just so happens that the RNG (Random Number Gods) prefers to give me statistically significant results. So, I will publish many papers and go on to becoming a renown scientist.
bandwagon: English spelling is terrible, Korean writing is scientific, and traditional Chinese characters are prettier than simplified Chinese characters.

composition/division: its true of English, so there must be a more general structural configuration of it that's true for all of the world's languages

begging the question: So, if language is an inherently human ability, this begs the question, what of this human ability is inherently?
appeal to nature: Writing is unnatural; speech is primary.
anecdotal: Studying languages makes you open minded because I know a lot of open minded people that study languages

middle ground: Is language found in the individual or in the community? It must be found in between these two diametrically opposed poles juxtapose contrast words words.
